All Creatures of Our God and King, one of my favourite hymns of all time, sung today at my church
Well, I meant to post an absolutely heavenly anthem that the choir performed today--a setting by Howard Goodall of the twenty-third psalm--but stupid me went and deleted the wrong recording by accident. I absolutely wailed when I did that. It's the best thing the choir has ever done in my well, not very humble opinion, and I truly wanted to share. I guess it wasn't meant to be. At least I managed to keep this. The words of this hymn are by St. Francis of Assisi, and the tune is based on the Adagio from Mendelssohn's second sonata. We only sing four out of six verses because of time constraints. The words are as follows: All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing:, alleluia, alleluia! O burning sun with golden beam, and shining moon with silver gleam, O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
O rushing wind so wild and strong, white clouds that sail in heaven along, alleluia, alleluia! New rising dawn in praise rejoice; you lights of evening find a voice: O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Cool flowing water, pure and clear, make music for your Lord to hear: alleluia, alleluia! Blessed fire, so masterful and bright, providing us with warmth and light. O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Let all things their Creator bless, and worship him in humbleness, alleluia, alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, and praise the Spirit, Three in One: O praise him, O praise him, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia! #church #hymns #music
