Reimagined by Stefana Fratila.
"I chose this field recording from Mexico City because I am fascinated by death rituals and how people choose to commemorate their dead. I approached reimagining the sound of women praying and chanting by placing these sounds in context with what was played on radio stations in Mexico City during the first week of Donald Trump taking office. I did this partially to suggest that life and death go on in Mexico, despite the political rupture and international attention the country is experiencing at this time. I also wanted to layer the kinds of sounds one might hear from within their homes while mourning their loved ones: different radio hosts, genres of music, and melodies. "
