Hit and run crashes have gone up in the last year and researchers in Leicester have been working out why people leave the scene of a crash.
They found most drivers don't think it's serious enough to stop and don't realise details need to be exchanged or that the crash needs to be reported to police within 24 hours.
Dr Matt Hopkins, from University of Leicester, talks to capital about the report by the Department of Criminology.
