Christmas gifts have been given out early in Caithness, after dozens of candy canes were left on car windscreens. They were left with messages reading: 'This cane was left with festive cheer, wishing you and yours, love and kindness at Christmas time xxxx.' Graeme Gunn from the Mount Vernon area of Thurso told MFR News: "There are quite a few houses in my area, and as far as I know, pretty much all of the cars have had one on their windscreen. "I was heading into town and I put the wipers on, and I heard something scrape along the window - turns out it was one of these candy canes." The 41-year-old has put his candy cane on his Christmas tree at home, and says the festive gesture has been well received by his neighbours: "Everyone who's received one has had a smile on their face. "Whoever's done it - they haven't done it for recognition. They've just decided it's a nice thing to do. "At first I had a rough idea who it was, and it turns out I was wrong. So the plot thickens. We still don't know who sent them out." Graeme Gunn tells MFR News about the discovery.
