Councils angry over TasWater dividends cut - water prices and rates could rise

TasWater has announced plans to embark on a $1.5 billion capital works programme, which will in part be funded by cuts to dividends paid to local councils. Councils are angry the decision has been made without consultation with Local Government. In the case of Burnie, it will leave a $418,000 hole in the budget.
