My first day at the IRA 30 years ago

Demolition work on the former Inverness Royal Academy school building starts today, and we're hearing some childhood memories. Aileen Thomson, who is 42-years-old and from Lochardil, is looking forward to her own kids going to the new school next door which opened in the summer. The old site is being cleared to allow for a school playground, car parking, and two-sports pitches. Aileen has told MFR News about her first day at the old IRA in 1986. The former Head Girl (1992) said: "The way we got round the building was with a map. No guided tour, no transition days - it was straight into it." Aileen tells us the story about the photo above, a Royal visit, and how it felt being back in the school 30-years on for a special tour and reunion. The demolition is expected to be completed in early 2017.
