FAO warns of escalating food crisis in South Sudan

The Food and Agricultural Organization and partners are stepping up interventions to respond to an escalating food crisis.

FAO warns that the risk of famine in 2017 is increasingly real; on account of the economic downturn and insecurity which continue to cripple food production and trade.

The UN agency says at least 30 percent of the country’s population which is an estimated 3.7 million people are severely food insecure.

Speaking to Miraya Breakfast show host Sebit William, Mark James, FAO national consultant explained the food situation in the country and highlighted some of the agency’s interventions.
