Juba to discuss border closure threats with Khartoum
The Foreign Affairs Ministry says it will engage Khartoum over reported threats to close the border. It was reported in the media that Sudan would seal the crossing points on allegations of Juba supporting rebel elements in Sudanese territory. Sudan’s minister for foreign affairs, Kamal Ismail told state-owned media in Khartoum that South Sudan had promised to expel insurgencies within 21 days during a visit by First Vice President Taban Deng Gai last month. Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mawien Makol says the government has not received official communication but is planning a visit to Khartoum to discuss the issue.
