UN Human Rights Commissioner : "Ultimately you can’t build peace without Justice"

A Human Rights expert is strongly stressing the importance of ensuring accountability and justice as a basis for healing and reconciliation.

Yasmin Sooka says past experiences in post-conflict environments show that peace building is not possible with impunity and failure to hold perpetrators of crimes to account.

Sooka makes the argument as part of a 3-man team that is tasked with assessing the human rights situation in the country and making recommendations for improvement.

She spoke to Ratomir Petrovic at the end of the team’s first mission to South Sudan on Thursday.
