UNMISS scales up patrols to ensure safety and protection of civillians

The UN Mission, UNMISS continues to conduct regular patrols to extend protection activities beyond protection of civilian sites, to build confidence and encourage the voluntary return of people to their homes.

Acting UNMISS spokesperson Shantal Persaud says UNMISS peacekeepers are engaged in both long and short distance patrols in Juba and other locations, identified as ‘hot spot areas.’

In this interview with Radio Miraya's Gabriel Shaddar, Shantal speaks about the wider protection of civilians aspects , constraints and challenges faced by the mission, and the mission's response to the recent fighting in Juba.
