A mother’s dreams, hopes and vision for South Sudan
For the people of Bentiu, Independence comes with hopes and dreams that they will finally be able to return to their homes, many of them after 2 years sheltered at the UN protection of civilian site.
Of special interest are the women, who usually bear the brunt of conflict. Not only are they exposed to physical abuse, but they are often left with the burden of shouldering the responsibility of supporting their families as their husbands go out into the battle field of pay the ultimate price of war.
Radio Miraya reporter, Jacob Ruai, caught up with one mother in Bentiu who says Independence for her brings hope for a better tomorrow.
