ISIS Claims Attack on Bangladeshi Capital's Diplomatic Zone

Police in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka were engaged in a shootout with gunmen who stormed a well-known eatery in the city’s diplomatic area on Friday evening, triggering a hostage situation at the venue popular with foreigners.

ISIS took credit for the attack in the city’s upscale Gulshan neighborhood. "Islamic State commandos attack a restaurant frequented by foreigners in the city of Dhaka," the ISIS-linked Aamaq news agency said, according to AFP.
