Black Isle Wildlife Park is being told to close over concerns about the welfare of its animals.

It's after a specialist vet found "serious deficiencies" during an inspection at the North Kessock zoo.

It came about after visitors had reported their concerns to public officials.

Now the operators of the Drumsmittal site have 28-days to appeal the decision before the closure can take effect.

A special inspection was instigated by Highland Council which later lead to a damning report by a Scottish Government-appointed vet.

Trina Hastings launched an online petition calling for the park's closure after visiting the site which attracted more than 1,000 signatures:

The owners of the Wildlife Park failed to respond to our attempts for comment.
