WHO Technical expert appeals for legislation on waste disposal
In South Sudan, Government has been advised to enact a law on waste collection and disposal, as part of the strategies to reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from pollution and contamination.
This is one of the Sustainable Development Goal on health which seeks to substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water, and soil pollution and contamination by 2030.
Mr Evans Liyosi, the WHO Technical officer for Neglected Tropical Diseases, told Miraya Breakfast Show that developing countries such as South Sudan, suffer impacts of pollution and environmental degradation as much as developed countries.
