The number of 999 calls made to Staffordshire Police by victims reporting domestic abuse has reached a five year high.
Almost twenty four thousand emergency pleas for help were made last year.
But the record figure came as Staffordshire Police was criticised in a damning report by inspectors -- who found "inconsistent and insufficient" responses on some occasions.
Since then hundreds of the force's officers have been retrained.
