You and Yours

'You & Yours' has been part of the Radio 4 schedule since October 1970. At that time, Radio 4 was changing, in the hands of Controller Tony Whitby, to develop a more cohesive schedule which nevertheless harnessed the variety that Radio 4, and most talk formats, will inevitably boast. His strategy helped to manoeuvre Radio 4 into a place for for the 70s, and place its Home Service heritage into a more contemporary context.

Tony aspired to create "well-labelled library that has a few surprises in it". The beautifully titled 'Can I Help You', 'Listening Post', 'You & Your Money' and 'In Practice' were subsumed into this new weekday magazine programme. It was a successful move.

Familiar voices on the programme now are Winifred Robinson, Peter White and Julian Worricker. Joan York had been the original presenter, so enjoy it here in its posher days.
