Bereavement Series: 'Replace the dark times with the good memories'
This week on the Breakfast Show, we have a special series focusing on something that we will all, sadly, go through at some point of our lives - bereavement. One of the things you can hear a lot when someone talks about coping with grief is that 'you learn to live with it' - this week we are asking HOW people get to that point. We're going to hear five very different experiences over the next five days and our first today is that of Tony Monaghan's.
Tony's mum Dorothy Gillespie, who was from the Waterside, had beat cancer twice. And despite losing her voice-box and her left-lung to the disease, she remained an outgoing, positive and resilient woman who loved nature and gardening. The mother-of-three died last October after the cancer returned a third time. One thing Dorothy loved to do was walk the same route near her home every day. And that walk is something Tony takes comfort from, now his mum is gone.Elaine Mcgee went with him, following in Dorothy's footsteps.
