A BETTER POLITICS: How government can make us happier, Blackwell’s Bookshop, Oxford, May 23rd 2016
The aim of this book is to inspire a better politics: one that will enable future generations to be happier. The book presents a summary of some of the latest results from the academic study of the Economics of Happiness. These and other recent findings are then used to argue that greater well-being and better health should be the main goal of the UK government - rather than wealth maximization. We need to value health-care more than hedge-funds, caring above coveted-careers, relationships more than real-estate. “A Better Politics" book looks at the evidence for what might produce a more successful politics, one that would promote more happiness and better health than we have. It suggests policies that take account of the new and growing evidence that our priorities have been misguided. Government can and should work to make us happier.
