Burma: Obama Extends Most U.S. Sanctions

Headlines coming out of Burma have been largely positive this year, with the country’s first democratically elected government in decades taking the reigns in late March following a sweeping election victory in November. Yet U.S. President Barack Obama announced Tuesday that the situation in Burma, officially known as Myanmar, “continues to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.
