Is cleanliness close to rock godliness? It is in the case of Tim Rogers. It turns out this icon of Australian indie music is a demon with the Scotch-Brite. The You Am I frontman opens up about his compulsion to scrub, mop and dust; an obsession he has dealt with quietly and doggedly under trying circumstances.

Tim has spent around 20 years working and touring with what he describes as a ‘grubby rock band’. As it turns out, it’s not easy to be a clean-freak in the world of sex, drugs and rock’n’roll.

'These days, I see the anxiety as a friend – an annoying tactless one that I would never call, but it's probably saved me from a more narcissistic self-involved life … and the middlingly narcissistic one I'm currently enjoying.'
