Uber, Lyft Decime Los Angeles Taxi Industry

The number of taxi rides taken in Los Angeles has plummeted by nearly a third and the volume of prearranged taxi rides has fallen 42% since Lyft and Uber started operating in the area, city data shows.
People took nearly 8.5 million taxi rides in 2012, a year before the two services started, but that number dropped to just over 6 million in 2015, the Los Angles Times reports.
