Stormont gets its taste of pensioner power #bbcnolan

Our politicians will be lobbied today to protect free bus passes and other benefits for older people. The Pensioner's Parliament pressure group will be on the Stormont Hill for a special "Question Time" session with MLAs. The pensioners body has drawn up its own manifesto ahead of the Assembly election. It wants assurances on free public transport for over 60s, the protection of free prescriptions and action to reduce hospital waiting times. Politicians are always very keen to keep older voters - the "grey vote" - happy But critics claim better-off pensioners get too many perks.
