A flight with Dada
Part of our Dada Sound project (February 2016) - see more at http://www.citiesandmemory.com/dadasounds By Elisabetta Senesi.
"My reimagined piece is focused on the juxtaposition of two layers of narrative. I applied the dada techniques of Collage and Montage by cutting separate clips where speech/human acitivities happened. Hence, I edited each clip in order to rebuild the recording backwards, while working mainly in split channels for manual pannings and individual time delays. Abstraction technique has been applied by using audio transitions between the selected clips, mostly cross fade in/out, and reverse effect has been also added in some clips with radio voices and mobiles melodies as I aimed to give a sense of interference. Chance has been applied with Phaser effect in one clip as I wanted to give another level of speech intelligibility. Finally, Readymade technique has been applied by adding generative modular sounds, such as DTMF tone, Risset Drum, Chirp, Click Track to join the main clips and to conclude the piece."
