The Transcendence of British and Irish MMA
Over the past 20 years, The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has taken Mixed Marshal Arts (MMA) and has transformed it from the no rules bare-knuckle bloodbaths of the early 90’s, into one of the fastest growing sports of the 20th century, but has still yet to take a foothold in the UK and Ireland, but all of that may be about to change, all because of a young Irish man named Conor McGragor, who was still collecting his social welfare check just 6 days before he made his UFC debut on the 6th of August 2013. We sent our reporter Dafydd Jones-Morris to find out more about this charismatic young man and the affect this is having on up and coming fighter Tom Wincott of Diesel MMA in south east London, and British and Irish MMA scene as a whole.
