A north-east man who has saved two lives at sea was honoured at the Original 106 Pride of Aberdeen Awards last night.

In 2001, while 90 miles off the coast of Fraserburgh Charlie McDonald dived into the north sea to save a shipmate who fell into the water at night.

Then in June this year, in an accident off the coast, crew mate Paul Buchan's leg snapped in two.

As he lost blood, Charlie quickly made a tourniquet for the leg, saving Paul's life.

The leg later had to be amputated.

Charlie won the Search and Rescue Award and told us of his experiences saving lives at sea.
