"Preach Peace not Hate" - Minister cautions Journalists in South Sudan

Information Minister, Micheal Makuei, has warned the media in South Sudan against pushing the country into disintegration again through hate speech. Minister Makuei gave the warning on Thursday during a news conference in Juba.

He urged the media to rise up and condemn those who are promoting hate speech, which could rekindle a violent conflict.

Minister Makeui warned that inflammatory statements are likely to thwart the efforts to restore peace and stability in the country.

“It is high time for the media to change its language, we don’t want any further hostile propaganda, we don’t want hate speech.”
