JCB celebrates its seventieth anniversary today.

The Staffordshire-based digger maker now makes an annual profit of three hundred million pounds.

But it all began seventy years ago today with one man in Uttoxeter.

The late Joseph Cyril Bamford started the business in a rented garage on the day his son was born.
