Government rejects UNMISS surveillance drones

The government of South Sudan is questioning a provision within the new mandate of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan that gives the Mission clearance to use drones to fulfill its mandate of protection of civilians.
On Friday the UN Security Council endorsed a resolution extending the UNMISS mandate to December 15th and granted the mission to use the unmanned drones.
Government spokesperson also Information Minister Michael Makuei, however says UNMISS has helicopters and does not need drones to carry out its work.
