Optometry NI says 'half of all cases of sight loss avoidable'

A trip to the opticians for one Derry man uncovered much more than just a problem with his eyesight - instead he was rushed to Altnagelvin's Emergency Department Hospital where doctors confirmed a life-threatening condition. While not all trips to the opticians end as dramatically - the local association of optometrists is urging the public not to ignore routine eye tests.
