National Peace Commission to conduct awareness on Peace Agreement

Monday 21st September is the International Day of Peace. A day commemorated globally every year dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war and violence.

This year the day holds special importance to South Sudan. After 20 months of conflict and earlier years of strife, the people of South Sudan are yearning for peace - now more than ever.

Activities for the day include a march from the Buluk play grounds to Nyakuron.

Chuol Rambang, Chairperson of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission is calling on all South Sudanese to honour the day by lighting a candle for peace.

Rambang says the Commission will launch an awareness campaign over the next 3 months to sensitize the communities about the peace process and spread peace messages.
