Thousands of refugees should be let into Northern Ireland - that is the view of the Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

Pressure has grown on the UK to take more people fleeing to Europe from Syria after the harrowing picture of the young boy Aylan Kurdi's body washed up on a Turkish beach shocked the world.

Martin McGuiness says Northern Ireland "could take a couple of thousand refugees" at first.

It comes as David Cameron is expected to announce plans later to increase the number of refugees being allowed into the UK.

Could we and should we be doing this, is Northern Ireland ready to open its doors to thousands of refugees and what kind of welcome would they get?
