With Kind Hearts & Lady Killers: How Ealing Studios Conquered Comedy

Ealing is a London suburb with a particular claim to fame -- the film studios located there. Today Ealing Studios is a thriving facility for hire, but their most celebrated era ended sixty years ago this summer. It was the end of a long string of classics such as Kind Hearts and Coronets and The Ladykillers -- very British comedies which nonetheless found an international market. But if Ealing films are long gone, does their somewhat frugal spirit live on? Our arts correspondent Vincent Dowd reports.
