New hydrogen tech extends smartphone battery life

You might be able to trade stocks, do the shopping and even edit movies on your smart phones these days...that's if you have enough power left.

The battery life of the devices is still a real bone of contention. Some phones don't even last a day before needing a re-charge.

Plenty of us have been left uncontactable when the power lead or spare battery has been left at home.

But could those frustrations soon be in the distant past? One British company is hoping so - it's invented a hydrogen powered battery for smartphones which could keep your device powered for a week.

We spoke to the acting MD of Intelligent Energy, Julian Hughes.
