Jon Cleary talks to Chris Philips

Coming from Kent, Jon Cleary followed his dream of living and playing blues, soul and funk in the Crescent City, New Orleans. Returning home for dates at Manchester's Band On The Wall (August 20) and London's Ronnie Scott's (August 21 & 22) he took time to talk with Chris Philips about his new album 'GoGo Juice', the special feel of New Orleans funk grooves, the people of the city and the ritual of celebrations on Mardi Gras day. This year is also the tenth anniversary of the devastating Hurricane Katrina that wiped out large areas of New Orleans and Jon gave his own stark and moving account of the aftermath.
