'I heard her beg for her life' - son of Troubles murder victim begins battle for justice #BBCNolan
The legacy of the Troubles is often discussed at length on this and many other programmes on the BBC. There have been many stories of atrocities and tragedies that continue to haunt victims and survivors and what you are about to hear is another powerful and emotional story of our troubled past. Damien O'Hagan was just seven years old when UVF gunmen burst into his home in Greencastle in Tyrone in 1994. He was in bed with his brothers as he heard his heavily pregnant mother begging for her life in the next room before she was murdered. The brothers waited with their mother's body for more than an hour until their father came home. The killers have never been caught. The family say the police ombudsman is now investigating whether or not there was security force collusion in the murder. This is Damien's first broadcast interview about what happened that night.
