Water cannons banned in England & Wales, but not in NI. Is it double standards?

It's good enough for rioters in Northern Ireland but not suitable for violent crowds in Great Britain. The Home Secretary Theresa May has banned the use of water cannon in England and Wales. Theresa May said "without safeguards" they had "the capacity to cause harm".

The PSNI has been using water cannon for the last few years - they were deployed during rioting in the Ardoyne on Monday night. The Mayor of London Boris Johnson is angry at the Home Secretary's decision. His office paid for 3 water cannon for the Metropolitan Police - they'll now be mothballed. #BBCNolan
