Julien Smith and The Ability To Destroy Anything (Rebroadcast)

Jul 06, 2015, 06:53 PM

Almost 4 years ago I read a truly inspiring book called The Flinch.  The premise of this great book is to overcome the flinch or fears that we all have every day, in order to live a more free and fulfilling life.

The part that really stuck with me was on cold showers and taking them to overcome the basic flinch to ice cold water.  There has rarely been a day that I have stepped into a shower and not thought of this challenge -- but I had yet to step up to the 30 day challenge presented in the book. This past March, my family and I went to the Philippines for a work vacation.  The country and people are some of the most beautiful I have seen anywhere, and most of the hotels had hot water.  Hotels are fun, but sometimes you need to adventure a little further. We decided to spend three weeks on a more remote island and stay in a more rustic style lodging. Here we had NO hot water, none at all, not a drop.  This was quite off-putting at first, but then it brought me back to The Flinch and its cold shower challenge.  Three weeks with no hot water, showering at least once per day and I am now 100% over my fear towards cold water. Julien Smith is the author of the Flinch (free download included below) and I am very excited to have him as a guest on the show.  Julien is the CEO of Breather, a New York Times Bestselling author, and a world-renowned speaker. Let's get into it.

Here's what the podcast is about:

Julien walks us through how to be wrong. It is your responsibility to delegate everything that you shouldn't be doing. You have a choice whether your idea lives or dies (and how to make the right choice). Make something happen at the highest leverage point possible.
