Britain launches its challenge to how the European Union is run

The State Opening of Parliament is where Britain's monarch lays out her government's agenda for the next year. Queen Elizabeth today outlined measures intended to cut taxes and create jobs.

But it was the announcement of plans to try and reform the way Europe works, ahead of a referendum on Britain's membership of the EU that will probably gain most headlines.

The British economist Roger Bootle is the author of a book called "The trouble with Europe - why the EU isn't working". Does he think Britain should leave?
