Ireland says yes to gay marriage. Is Northern Ireland being left behind?
The Republic of Ireland has made history by becoming the first country in the world to introduce gay marriage by popular vote, with 62.1% of voters backing the reform giving same-sex couples the right to marry. A total of 1,201,607 votes were cast in favour, while 734,300 votes were cast against. And the Taoiseach Enda Kennedy hailed the result as "a piece of history" after the Yes campaign secured a resounding victory to enshrine the right in the country's constitution.
So you can now get married in England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. But not in Northern Ireland.
