Obey the signs or pay the fines - are CCTV cameras for Belfast bus lanes a good idea?
Obey the signs or pay the fines that's the new warning to stay clear of bus lanes in Belfast. Just when you thought you'd come to terms with speed cameras a new set of CCTV cameras are erected. This time to catch drivers who use bus lanes illegally. From next month six static cameras in the city centre PLUS a "mobile detection vehicle" will be monitoring lanes around the city. Drivers caught on camera using bus lanes outside permitted hours will be hit with a £45 fine that will double to £90 if not paid inside two weeks.
