16. The Giro d'Italia preview
May 7 | With the Giro d’Italia just round the corner the Telegraph Cycling Podcast looks ahead to the opening grand tour of the 2015 season.
Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe head to Italia Uno, the authentic Italian cafe in Charlotte Street, London, to discuss the Giro. There, they are joined by British Eurosport’s commentator Rob Hatch, who interrupted his own preparations for the Giro to add his insight.
The team weigh up the chances of Tinkoff-Saxo’s Alberto Contador, Team Sky’s Richie Porte and the other contenders ahead of Saturday’s start.
But although this is the Telegraph Cycling Podcast’s Giro d’Italia preview show, there’s much more to discuss than that.
Richard and Daniel report back from the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire and Rob fills us in on the Tour of Romandy, the World Tour race in Switzerland that was won by surprise package Ilnur Zakarin of Russia.
And Daniel shares his inside knowledge on Mark Cavendish’s latest contract discussions. Where will the British sprinter be in 2016 – still at Etixx-Quick Step or elsewhere?
The Telegraph Cycling Podcast is sponsored by British Eurosport.
