A classic 1936 Compton cinema organ is winding back into action, as the picture house in which is was housed flickers back into life.

The venue, on regent street in London, is Britain's oldest cinema.

The first ever film to be shown in the UK was projected onto the screen there back in 1896.

After years of being mothballed, then turned into a lecture theatre , it's been lovingly restored and will show silent movies once more.

Our reporter Dominic Laurie caught up with Westminster University archivist Elaine Penn, to find out more about what was top billing back in the 19th century.
