Massive public transport spending – but are we still hooked on the car?
Are we in Northern Ireland hooked on the car? A review has found that a big push to encourage us onto buses and trains has had very limited success. A massive £1.1 billion has been spent on public transport here over 10 years. But a new report says the investment has not brought a significant increase in public transport use. The study, by the watchdog Northern Ireland Audit Office, says we remain wedded to the car. So is it time for a re-think? Should the push towards buses and trains be abandoned? #BBCNolan
