Allegations of sexual abuse at school, aged just 9....

(Broadcast on BBC Radio Stoke, March 2015) We're going to hear the story of Alan Simpson - he's 79 now - but during the 1940s he was a pupil at St Joseph's Catholic School in Trent Vale.

Following a BBC television documentary on historic child abuse he got in touch with us to tell us what happened to him.

He says he was abused by a teacher at the school, and told BBC Radio Stoke's Emma Thomas about his time there...

(We've approached the school's current head teacher for a response, she says no other allegations have been made during her employment and that the school is now "unrecognisable" from the college of the 1940s. The Congregation of Christian Brothers says the Catholic Church is committed to addressing the very important issue of child protection.)
