600 girls under 16 in NI given contraceptive implants - #BBCNolan reveals

A girl as young as 11 has been given a contraceptive implant in Northern Ireland, a Nolan Show investigation can reveal. In all there have been 600 young girls under the age of 16 - that is under the legal age of consent - who have had the implants in the past five years. So what does this say about our attitudes to sex here in Northern Ireland? Are young people beginning sexual relationships too early - and even if they are, is taking precautions against teenage pregnancies not a wise move?
