Environmental pressure groups often don't have the best relationship with the governments of countries they work in, but in India, the gloves have come off. Back in the summer a leaked intelligence report suggested campaigns by western charities against energy and industrial projects could be costing the country between two and three per cent of GDP a year. That was only the start of the bad relations. Since then several charities say they have been harassed - with Greenpeace saying all its foreign sources of funding have been cut off, costing it over a million dollars a year. On Friday, Greenpeace takes the Indian government to court.

The government says accusations of harassment are wide of the mark, and it's only trying to fight for the country's national interest.

We speak to Narasimha Rao, a national spokesperson for the ruling BJP, and Samit Aich, Greenpeace India's executive director.
