India has been under attack from environmentalists for not doing enough to protect its remaining tigers. It is also now coming under fire for what many see as an over-reaction in the other direction - Survival International the campaigning group for tribal people's rights says people are being forcibly evicted from their homes in the Kanha Tiger Reserve. Kanha in Madhya Pradhesh was where Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book was set. The Baiga and Gond tribespeople have received some money in compensation but they say their eviction is illegal, and Survival International say it is also not going to help the tigers. The BBC's Roger Hearing speaks to Jo Woodman, a Survival campaigner.

The BBC approached the Indian government's Tiger Conservation Authority for their response but as yet we have been unable to speak to anyone from the TCA.
