Simon Cooke, Managing Director of Ronnie Scott's talks about the club's 55th birthday
The world famous jazz club Ronnie Scott's opened on October 30th 1959 at 'the old place' in Gerrard Street in London's Soho with the iconic British saxophonist at the helm. It soon moved to the bigger spot in Frith Street and continues to showcase the world's greatest jazz and soul artists and gives space to up-and-coming bands and musicians. It's never been busier, running at capacity nearly every night. Simon Cooke manages the programme and club and told Chris Philips about the illustrious history, a birthday double bill featuring Grammy award winning Dianne Reeves and trumpeter Takuya Kuroda and technological developments that have enabled Ronnies to share what they do with a global audience.
