Peter Robinson says Stormont is no longer fit for purpose. The DUP First Minister has sounded his starkest warning yet about the future of the Assembly.

Writing for the Belfast telegraph, he calls for major new negotiations on changes to how Stormont works. He says the cost of not reaching agreement on welfare reform is too high - massive cuts in public services, thousands of job losses leading to Northern Ireland being financially crippled.

Martin McGuinness has hit back saying "megaphone or media-based negotiations are counter-productive and the best way to do business and get an agreement is through talking to the people you disagree with."
