TEAMtalk 252 - Closedown
TEAMtalk 252 was based in Leeds. Its huge Irish transmitter and facilities were bought from RTL for £2m, having been used by the influential Atlantic 252 until December 2001.
Launched in March 2002, TEAMtalk was to last for just five months, having attracted around half a million listeners.
A format of sports talk, phone-ins and discussions ruled, in the hands of the likes of Jon Meek, Jon Newcombe, Mike Cunliffe George Riley and Jamie Broadbent. Amidst financial pressure and disagreement about acquisitors, the station closed on July 31st 2002, with the legendary James H. Reeve signing off.
